Description

Located in the heart of the Chianti Classico Region close to Florence and Siena, Villa San Piero is a luxury private residence submerged in vineyards with stunning views over the Tuscan countryside.
The Villa with private saltwater infinity pool dates back to the 13th Century and finished careful restoration to the highest technical standard. All original features in the Tuscan artisanal tradition were preserved, complemented by contemporary amenities and exquisite furniture. The history of the complex can be seen in many details especially in the remnants of the ancient church San Piero adjacent to the Villa. The open romanesque church walls and apsis create an all star evening, romantic and magic location for special occasions or simply make a very special dining area. You can enter the church directly from the living room and sit under the starry sky in your own private romanesque church. The church can be lit up at night and is visible through the glass door in the living room.

The villa with 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms sleeps up to 10 people.
On the ground floor is the Master bedroom with king size bed, fireplace and ensuite bathroom, a large living room with comfortable sofas, second fireplace, wet bar and HiFi System, the main kitchen, a formal dining room with antique fireplace and pizza oven, 1 bedroom with queen size bed, loft and private bathroom, 1 bedroom with Flatscreen TV 55″ leather sofa, 3 armchairs and – on the loft – a comfortable Full XL bed (140 cm x 200 cm) , another private bathroom with tub including shower.

Modern art work and designer light fixtures underline the beauty of the high ceiling with huge oak beams.

The swimming pool is open from the beginning of May through the end of September.

Guests can choose between multiple places for al fresco dining or a glass of wine. They will find a long glass table with teakwood chairs in the ancient former church. An antique stone table in the courtyard and marble tables with plenty of chairs in the shade of the stone-walled loggia. There is another terrace outfitted with comfortable sofas, where you can enjoy your morning coffee in the sun taking in the peace of the surrounding landscape. The History:
The church and a big part of the villa date back before the year 1301. The first official record of the church was documented in April 1301 in the tax book of Fiesole. In 1437 the church was partially burned down and abandoned due to the war between Florence and Siena. In 1445 the parish church was restored.
Pope Julius II. allocated San Piero with decree from the 12. August 1508 to the monastery of San Leolino in Panzano. To this day the most important artworks of San Piero can be viewed in the monestary church of San Leolino. Namely the triptych depicting the wedding of Saint Katharina in the presence Saint Peter – Sienese school; 2nd half of the 14th century and a painting by Meliore di Jacopo, depicting the Madonna on the throne with child flanked by Saint Peter and Saint Paul dated 1270.
In 1737 San Piero functioned as the home of the monasteries prior and a small monastic community.
The bell tower and church roof collapsed after the church was deconsecrated, they are no longer in place today. In 2004 the church building was put under monumental protection as an important heritage site in the region of Siena.
